Doodles on your dishware? Why not? Create custom cups with your own designs in just a few easy steps.
Gather your materials for a mug marking session. Here’s what you’ll need:
- Plain white mugs (extend your creativity to bowls and plates, too)
- Transfer paper
- Clip art or paper for drawing pattern
- Scissors
- Scotch tape
- Pencil
- Oil-based paint pen (we used Painted By Me Bake at Home Ceramic Markers)
Download a clip art design from an online source or draw your own design on paper. Using scissors, cut the drawing from the paper.
Cut a piece of transfer paper slightly larger than your drawing.
Tape transfer paper, carbon side down, and pattern onto mug.
Trace with pencil to transfer the design. Remove pattern and paper.
Trace the lines with a paint pen.
Repeat or add other motifs to create a design that wraps around your mug.
Of course, if you’re a confident artist, you can draw freehand blooms directly on the mug with your specialty markers. Not happy with your design? Clean off the ink with window cleaner or soapy water then, draw again.
Once you’ve settled on a look you love, bake the mugs in the oven according to manufacturer directions.
The artwork will be food safe, dishwasher safe, scratch resistant, and utterly unique.
