Hooker Furniture Melange Raised Lattice Front Chest

Our redo was inspired by this Melange Raised Lattice 3-Drawer Front Chest from Hooker Furniture, available at Wayfair.com.

Once again, we started with the affordable Tarva dresser from IKEA.
Entry Mood Board with warm colors and white

A palette of hot colors—fuchsia and tangerine—creates an eye-popping backdrop for our white-on-white bureau design.

Entry Bureau Overall

A 3-drawer bureau brings useful storage to an entry while the fretwork and hairpin legs add lightness and an elegance that harmonizes with the gold accents and velvet chair upholstery.

Here’s how to get our dresser look: Order the custom-size, lightweight PVC fretwork panels from Myoverlays.com to fit the drawer fronts.
Assemble the dresser; do not attach the legs supplied with the unit.
Prime and paint the dresser and fretwork panels.

Fretwork panel detail on the front of the dresser

Place the dresser on its back. Adhere decorative fretwork panels to drawer fronts according to manufacturer directions. Heavy-duty adhesive formulated for plastic is recommended. Apply this adhesive to the backs of the panels, press into place firmly and consistently until the glue begins to set (use clamps if necessary to get a good seal). Check that the entire length of each piece makes contact with the drawer-front surface below.

When dry, install hairpin-shaped feet to the dresser bottom using a drill and screws according to manufacturer’s instructions.

Sconce shade with ribbon

Bring the orange hue up on the wall of your entry with the addition of satin ribbon on the sconce shades. A wider ribbon encircles the bottom of the shade; narrow pieces surround the top edge and a band just above the wide ribbon. We adhered the ribbon with Sealah tape but light dots of hot glue would also work.

Gilded mirror frame

Give an old mirror frame some glitz and glam with a coat of gold paint. Hang it over the entry bureau at a height that frames your head and shoulders.
